Which 30 June 2027 valuation package fits you?
Choose by what you own: Oliver Group values a business, private company shares or trust units, and property is valued and signed by a property valuer, never Oliver Group. Own both? The Business + Property package covers the two at the same dates.
The date matters because, from 1 July 2027, the 50% capital gains tax (CGT) discount for individuals and trusts no longer applies to the part of a gain that builds up from that date (ATO; ITAA 1997 s 115-100). If you are an Australian resident and still hold an asset then, or your family trust does, the law generally treats it as sold just before 1 July 2027 and bought back at market value, which splits a later gain at that date (ITAA 1997 s 112-155, s 112-165). Some assets are outside that rule, such as new residential dwellings that meet the law's tests and affordable housing (ITAA 1997 s 112-155(1)(e)). Assets bought before 20 September 1985 get a deemed sale of their own (ITAA 1997 s 112-175). Valuation Day is our name for that date, not an official one.

Business: a signed planning valuation now and the update to 30 June 2027, for one fee, explained below. Value my business
Property: a value as at 30 June 2027 is prepared after that date, and you can register your interest now. Value my property
Business + Property: one set of dates for both, so the figures your accountant receives line up. Value both
What if you only want one valuation date?
One signed valuation of a business, shares or trust units at a single date, with no update, is $1,495 + GST for a business with annual turnover under $2 million; your written fee confirms the date. The package adds the update: a valuation as at 30 June 2027, prepared after that date. Your accountant can tell you whether one date or two may be useful.
What if your business turns over $2 million or more?
The same package is available, at a fixed fee confirmed in writing on the first call and before any work starts. Turnover here means annual turnover: the business's total sales over a year.
What is included in the business package?
Two valuations for one fee: a signed planning valuation now, and the update to 30 June 2027, prepared after that date.
- A planning valuation now. A signed valuation as at today, so you and your accountant can see where things stand. It is not a 30 June 2027 valuation: the ATO said on 19 October 2026 that one shouldn't be obtained before that date, because a valuation can't be forward-looking (ATO, 19 October 2026).
- The model and evidence, built now. Both are set up at the start and kept on file for the update.
- The update to 30 June 2027. After that date, you send your financial information to 30 June 2027 and confirm any material (major) changes; an updated valuation as at 30 June 2027 follows, included in the package fee.
- Signed and kept. Business reports signed by Jackson Wilson, Oliver Group. Working file kept for ten years.
Oliver Group also describes the package on its CGT 2027 Valuation Package page.
What needs a separate quote?
The update brings your figures forward to 30 June 2027; bigger changes may be quoted separately, in writing, before that work starts. They include:
- Significant acquisitions: buying another business or a major asset.
- Disposals: selling part of the business or a major asset.
- Restructures: changing the companies or trusts that own the business.
- Changes of scope: work beyond what your written fee covers, such as another entity or another valuation date.
Property is always quoted on its own, and tax advice is never part of a package.
How is the fee fixed before work starts?
You get the fee in writing before anything starts, then you decide.
- Tell us what to value.
Use the form or call 03 8375 4177.
- Confirm the details.
For a business, a free 15-minute call covers what is being valued and the dates.
- Get your fixed fee in writing.
Independent: the fee is never tied to the answer.
- Decide.
There is no obligation. If you go ahead, work starts on your first document upload or your payment, whichever comes first, so read the written terms before either.
Questions people ask
What does a 30 June 2027 valuation package cost?
Oliver Group's business package for 30 June 2027 is $1,995 + GST, turnover under $2 million, signed planning valuation now plus the update to 30 June 2027 included. One date only, turnover under $2 million: $1,495 + GST. Turnover of $2 million or more: fee fixed in writing on the first call. Property: quoted separately.
What does the package add to a one-date valuation?
The 30 June 2027 valuation package adds the update, included in the package fee. After 30 June 2027, Oliver Group updates the model with your figures to that date and prepares a valuation as at 30 June 2027. A one-date valuation, at $1,495 + GST, has no update.
How does adding a property change the fee?
With the Business + Property package for 30 June 2027, you get $300 off the Oliver Group business fee when a property is added. Property is valued and signed by a property valuer, never Oliver Group, and its fee is quoted in writing before any work begins.
Can the fee change after I accept it?
Not for the agreed scope. Your fixed fee in writing covers the 30 June 2027 valuation package as described. Significant acquisitions, disposals, restructures or changes of scope may be quoted separately, and any separate quote reaches you in writing before that extra work starts.
Do I need a 30 June 2027 valuation package?
Not necessarily. The ATO says you generally don't need a market value for your 2026-27 return, but for most assets, including real estate, it will need to be established when you later sell, unless an apportioning method (a formula the Minister may make, not made at 24 October 2026) can be used. Ask your accountant.
